Two separate passes, the “Fruit of Immortality” BP for 990 Lattice (about $10), include 10 skins as well as sprays, emotes, and more. Season 4 sees a significant amount of hero balance changes that affect damage, cooldowns, and health to adjust the current meta. Many Team-Ups are still in place, but one combination has been cut - Dimensional Shortcut (Black Panther + Magik), clearing the way for new pairs to form as Angela and Daredevil are shuffled into squad compositions.
Marvel Rivals Season 4 Release and Roadmap
Season 4 was released on September 12th, 2025, at approximately 9:00:00 UTC with a duration of a few hours (2-3) for maintenance. The launch marks the largest platform expansion for the title since its release on December 6, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X|S. The eagerly awaited Trailer #4 offers a glimpse of the new content and features arriving in the game.
Launch date and supported platforms
The highlight of the new releases is Marvel Rivals, which is the first time PS4 owners will be able to play as heroes and villains on a last-gen console. Games will perform with the base PS4’s 30fps at 1080p, but take advantage of the PS4 Pro’s superior hardware, upping resolutions to 1440p at 60 frames per second. PC players can still access via Steam or the Epic Store.
The thing is, with this PlayStation 4 crossover player pool could theoretically now be more than doubled if you are merely thinking about how many PS4 units have been sold worldwide (roughly 117 million and counting). Support on additional platforms is part of NetEase's plan to ensure the largest competitive player bases possible on all available platforms.
Season 4.5 and Season 5 Plans

September 19: Marvel Swimsuit Special and Summer Special Vol. 2 skins release
September 26: Released K'un-Lun: Heart of Heaven map for play test
October 3: Emma Frost Hellfire Protocol costume goes on sale
October 10: Season 4.5 sees the release of Daredevil as a playable character

How to prepare for the season ahead
There are a few steps you can take to maximize your Season 4 experience:
Complete Season 3.5 challenges immediately. Grinding the outstanding challenges goes away with the transition seasons, and you could be losing out on some useful rewards.
Farm Chrono Tokens for Battle Pass progress. The Fruit of Immortality Battle Pass spends these tokens, which you get for playing matches and completing challenges.
Get good at the Divine Armory Team-Up synergy. When done right, the chemistry between Thor and Angela gives competitive advantages.
Participate in placement matches early. Competitive mode gets placement matches in S4, so you don't have to grind through the lower ranks.
The Battle Pass system grants mid-season players the opportunity to receive anything they've unlocked at any previous season level and keep it forever. But if you want to make the most of your rewards, take a look at our complete battle pass guide for tips and strategies.
Season 4 Content Additions

Season 4 is based around K'un-lun mystic aesthetic and has content through the whatever(s). The inclusions cover new battlefields, new heroes, and a huge cosmetic inventory.
Heart of Heaven Map Features
K'un-Lun: Heart of Heaven releases on September 25, featuring an Eastern-themed Convergence mode map with a mix of Capture Point and Payload gameplay. The map is a far cry from 3.5’s darker imagery and instead showcases the western ninja city where the Iron Fist gained his power. Heart of Heaven shows off stunning vistas that present a unique look to otherwise battlefield lands.
Angela and Daredevil Hero Breakdown
Angela is introduced as a Vanguard who specialises in air combat, and she happens to be Thor's Asgardian sister. Her Ichor system enables liquid metal to become various weapons. The set includes a thrusting spear for enemy line engagements, a defensively shielding cape, a sundisk for close attacks, and dual axes to finish enemies up. Angela is the game’s inaugural flying Vanguard with strong crowd control capabilities". And as far as what season of the lamb will bring to all, players can also expect a futuristic Angela 2099 costume alongside some of the other in-game cosmetics.
Daredevil is added as a character during Season 4.5 on October 10th, but appears in this game arted as Dizang, the ruler of the Eighth City. This version is not the normal Matt Murdock, as he has ties directly to K'un-Lun lore with the use of Asian inspired armor design that alludes back to his mystical origin.
Fruit of Immortality Battle Pass Format
Dropping at the same time as Season 4 is the Battle Pass, which will bring with it 10 new character outfits and emotes. The pass, which costs 990 Lattice (about $10), is split up into two reward tracks. Free makes available Golden Age Captain America and The Trial of Magneto for Magneto, while premium rewards offer themed gear based on the concepts of protection, peace, and vitality. And for players who want even more exclusive rewards, the luxury battle pass has extra high-tier content for our most loyal players.
Cosmetic Collections and Visual Updates
The collector’s offering supports one of four new characters: Abyssal Flame, Luna Snow, Moon Knight Mech, based on What If… Season 3, Immortal Firebird Loki, and Dark Phoenix. The Marvel swimsuit issue shorts will be available on September 18, with beach-ready skins for The Punisher, The Thing, Invisible Woman, Mantis, and Human Torch. More collectibles include MVP animations, spray patterns, emotes, nameplates, and customisable Ultimate visual effects. The new costume trial program also enables players to try out skins before they buy them.
Arcade Mode Expansion and Features
Season 4 will bring new arcade mode changes that transform the way players participate in Marvel Rivals’ competitive community. These inclusions are designed to cater to varying styles of play yet remain focused on the core team-based shooter gameplay.
Conquest (Annihilation) and Free Fight
Conquest annihilation is 1 point per elimination, and when 50 eliminations have been reached, the match ends. The mode does away with the Chronovium collectathon and is dedicated entirely to elimination-based gameplay. Free Fight also removes any restriction on which heroes can be selected, permitting a team to have as many copies of the same character on its line-up as desired. It still keeps it fresh, as teams can protect their desired picks by banning 2 heroes at the start to give a bit of strategy. Six Jeff the Land Sharks or many Lunas Snow on one team leads to chaotic but fun turns.
Rumble Clone and Giant-Size Brain Blast Returns
Cloned Rumble again, hero selection is simplified to just 2 random ones. Victory conditions are 100% capture. Giant-Size Brain Blast Mod is a modification that turns ordinary character models into bobbleheads. Here, you will have a team deathmatch style where you need to hit 50 points to win, with an average match time of 4 minutes.
Arcade Hub Consolidation
The new arcade mode hub integrates all six game modes into a communal interface. Multi-mode selection support has been added to the Queue! The system now offers multiple mode selections simultaneously, meaning wait times will be drastically reduced. This universal system helps to avoid navigating between numerous game versions. All modes are now always available (including Doom Match), guaranteeing game variety for all types of players every time.
Balance Changes and Hero Adjustments

Season 4 features major hero balancing in one of its largest meta shakes since Season 1.5.
Buffed heroes: Thor, Scarlet Witch, Ultron, and more
Ultimate Berserker Upgrade: Thor’s Ultimate now has some sizable improvements, with the movement speed increased from 600 to 700, along with a new CC effect that stuns surrounding foes for a second. Speaking of the red lady, her buff itself is a large survivability upgrade. Teammates now have an ally to heal during Mystic Projection Her Reality Erasure damage jumps from a dinky, negligible amount (800) all the way to a ridiculous max possible value (9999). Ultron Ultimate: bonus health damage increased from 100% to 125%, making it more viable against tankier enemies. The Ultron wasteland robot skin also gets some new visuals to go along with these updates. That buff roster also includes Peni Parker, Doctor Strange, Blade, and Moon Knight.
Nerfed characters: Emma Frost, Loki, Luna Snow, and so on
Emma Frost gets her Diamond Form CD extended from 15s to 18s and reduced energy gain from shield. Loki suffers quite a of hits as well by lowering his illusion (damage + healing) to 80%, and even the transformation duration gets shortened from 15s to 12s, while Luna Snow also gets sliced from her Ultimate duration point from 12s to only around 10s. Other nerfs are made to Squirrel Girl’s poke damage, Black Panther’s survivability, and Psylocke’s burst.
Team-up changes and new synergies
The Thor specific amalgamation of Angela, known as the Divine Armory, is our latest team-up. This set grants Thor Thunder Spear, which recovers Thorforce on impact and allows a leap to the point of impact. The Dimensional Shortcut (Black Panther + Magik) has been eliminated. Black Panther goes to Gamma Charge with Hulk, getting his gamma shield when his health is low. Magik joins the Arcane Order with Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch as well, receiving Chain of Cyttorak to chain and slow enemies.
Map tweaks and quality-of-life improvements
The changes were aimed at pro play and high ranks by NetEase. Angela is our first aerial, double-the-survivability-of-existing-flyers Vanguard that will add some massive twists to upper-end strategies. Several abilities are now clearer and more user-friendly on all the maps. What's more, the inclusion of volatile molecules as a new asset gives players even more power over what their hero can accomplish, making team combinations all the more tricky.
Impact on Season 4 and Player Outlook
Marvel Rivals Season 4 is a drastic departure from the traditional competitive format of the game. Angela's role as the initial Aerial Vanguard will deconstruct team building strategies, and Daredevil's midseason appearance will continue to shift predictable meta trends.
The major hero balance changes allow the weaker heroes, such as Thor or the Scarlet Witch, to become viable in competitive play. There will also be a few adjustments for dominant heroes like Emma Frost and Luna Snow to balance out their OP status in ranked matches.
The changes to Team-Ups offer the greatest strategic diversity, especially the new Divine Armory synergy between Angela and Thor. Taking out Dimensional Shortcut is a big blow to players like Black Panther and Magik, as this now makes them change their partner in-game.
The Arcade Hub changes fix complaints from players over the last year and longer with queue times and mode availability. With multiple concurrent queues and year around permanent mode, modes should keep players engaged at higher levels of gameplay, no matter how they like to play.
Being part of the PlayStation 4 ecosystem swells the ranks significantly, and that generally means you have a more active matchmaking system, and waiting times for a match are even shorter, regardless of rank. This platform addition, along with the season's staggering amount of content, sets up Marvel Rivals for continued success.
On the whole, Season 4 has been good in terms of competitive value with new maps, heroes, and changes to balance. Master the new Team-Ups combinations with Angela, and see how her aerial abilities change the way you engage in your battles. It's an exciting time, and the new meta will require every player to make adjustments. Be sure to collect your previous season rank settlement rewards before setting out into the new Ranked world!
