How to Play Times Square

The setup you need to know

Times Square is a non-combat social map released on November 14, 2025 with the first part of Season 5. It can host up to 100 players simultaneously who can interact, socialize, dance, watch videos, read, and explore.

There are no objectives, no win conditions, no enemies. This is purely a hub map for community interaction and ongoing seasonal events.

You access Times Square through the main menu's social options. Most of the value comes from limited-time events, photo ops, dance ceremonies, hidden interactive elements, and ongoing seasonal celebrations.

Things to do (general activities)

Take photo ops for free Units. Visit the photo walls right outside the Avengers' Gift Shop. Click "Join a Photo Op session" to head to Times Square. Interact with one of the Avengers' heroes to switch to them and begin the photo op. Capture a group photo with the NPCs or players to earn 100 Units for free. This is the most consistent way to earn free currency on the map.

Watch the legendary Avengers (2012) movie clips. Watch the legendary clips of The Avengers (2012) movie for at least 2 minutes in the viewing area to unlock the exclusive Avengers Gallery Card.

Watch reveal trailers and music videos. There are billboards displayed for showing reveal trailers of recently released costumes and seasonal trailers in Marvel Rivals, plus digital billboards promoting comics like Queen In Black and Marvel Rivals: Infinity, the music video of "Rivals 'Til the End" by Chrissy Constanza, and several MCU teasers and trailers.

Explore real-world brand collaborations. The map has real-life stores featuring products that collaborate with Marvel Rivals like clothing and toy figures. These include Hot Topic, Funko, Pym Test Kitchen, and others.

Spot the lore easter eggs. There's a Black Cat wanted poster showing her real name Felicia Hardy, the Daily Bugle headquarters with the iconic DB logo, the Pym Test Kitchen, Roxxon Energy headquarters (linked to HYDRA in lore), and a billboard for the Nelson & Murdock Law Firm referencing Daredevil. Many of these hint at future characters or storylines.

Things to do (limited-time events): Times Square hosts frequent seasonal events. Recent ones have included:

  • Rivals' Day Countdown (December 2025): Join the countdown to earn the Rivals' Day 2025 Title and 200 Units.
  • Pym's Test Kitchen Food Cart: Eat to make your hero bigger or smaller for an hour.
  • Christmas Tree Event: Visit daily to claim a gift.
  • New Year's Ball Drop: Mayor Wilson Fisk hosts the grand New Year's Ball Drop. Players who enter Times Square from January 1-3 receive the "New Year 2026" title via in-game mail.

- Disco Ballroom: A new underground area where you can dance alongside Hela, Spider-Man, or Psylocke for 100 Units the first time. Clobberin' Club: 1v1 throwdowns deep beneath Times Square.

  • Rogue/Gambit Valentine's Carriage: Recreate Rogue and Gambit's magical first date from X-Men (1991) #24 for 100 Units the first time joining.
  • Spring Festival Fortune Drum: Interact with the Fortune Drum on the Lion Dance stage to claim a red packet with 188 Units and the Wild Imagination Title.

Things to do (Disco Ballroom specifically)

The Disco Ballroom was released on January 22, 2026, located at Times Square's Subway Station or accessible through a teleporter around Times Square.

Finding the Disco club is easy enough, but entering it can be tricky due to a player capacity cap. Run towards the giant billboard at the center. Go towards the doors in the middle and hit the 'G' key when prompted. If that doesn't work, turn right to find stairs heading downward. The entrance is right next to a taxi.

For reasons currently unknown, Disco Night appears to be a closed party. If the player cap is full, use Loki's Doppleganger ability to bypass the metal gate.

Things to do (advanced exploration)

There's a known out-of-bounds glitch that lets you access areas under the map. Pick Punisher, head to the subway entrance, go to the left corner of the entrance and line yourself up, place your Turret while facing slightly left so your character clips through the wall, then switch to a flying character. If done correctly, you'll find yourself out of bounds and under the map.

This is purely for fun exploration and doesn't grant rewards. Use at your own risk since glitch exploits can occasionally be patched out.

General things that matter

This map exists to build community and reward player engagement outside of competitive play. Treat it like Destiny's Tower, Final Fantasy XIV's Limsa Lominsa, or Fortnite's lobby. It's where players hang out between matches, show off skins, and pick up free rewards.

The map updates frequently. Marvel Rivals adds new events to Times Square every few weeks, especially tied to real-world holidays (Valentine's, Spring Festival, Christmas, New Year). Check the social hub regularly to catch new content.

Don't worry about hero choice. This isn't a competitive mode. Pick whoever you enjoy or whoever has cool seasonal skins to show off.

Be aware of the player cap. Times Square fills up fast during major events. Some sub-areas like the Disco Club have stricter caps that can lock you out unless you use specific bypass tricks like Loki's clone.

Last thing: Times Square is where Marvel Rivals expresses its personality outside of the battlefield. The easter eggs, brand collaborations, and ongoing event content make it worth visiting regularly even if you're not chasing rewards. It's also genuinely one of the best places in any hero shooter to just hang out and enjoy the IP. If you main a specific hero, walking them through Times Square in a new skin is the closest thing to a "showroom" Marvel Rivals offers.
