Blade in Marvel Rivals

Blade

Marvel Rivals Duelist · Season 10.5

Updated

Blade is a Duelist hero in Marvel Rivals with 350 health and a 3/5 difficulty rating. Blade joined the game in Season 3.5 on August 8, 2025. In Season 10.5 ranked, Blade has a 50.8% win rate (B tier, #19 of 54) and is picked by 6.6% of teams. Blade's team-ups are Blade of Khonshu (with Moon Knight) and Bleed for Battle (with Captain America). The ultimate is Thousand-Fold Slash.

Blade is a 350-health Duelist who switches between a 5 m sword and a shotgun, poking with the gun and committing with the blade. His core tool is Bloodline Awakening, which gives the sword 70% lifesteal and stacking attack speed, so he heals through melee brawls while his dash and ultimate cut enemy healing.

How to Play Blade

  • Master the 9-20 Meter Sweet Spot with Your Shotgun: The Hunter's Shotgun is your primary weapon for most engagements, but it works counterintuitively to typical shotguns. Your damage increases with distance, peaking dramatically at 9-20 meters. Listen for the distinct audio cues - the shotgun produces different hit sounds when you're in the optimal range versus too close. Practice maintaining this distance by using cover and positioning to stay in your damage sweet spot while avoiding getting rushed by enemies.
  • Use Weapon-Specific Dashes Strategically: Your Daywalker Dash changes based on your equipped weapon, giving you tactical flexibility. With the shotgun out, dash applies 40% healing reduction - perfect for diving overhealed targets or countering enemy support ultimates. With the sword equipped, dash delivers a spinning strike that slows enemies and quickly builds your Bloodline Awakening stacks. The optimal combo is: shotgun dash for healing reduction → activate Bloodline Awakening → sword dash for maximum damage and lifesteal stacking.
  • Commit Fully When Using Bloodline Awakening: Bloodline Awakening reduces healing from teammates and health packs, so you must commit to aggressive plays once activated. This ability transforms you into a vampiric state with lifesteal, stacking attack speed, and enhanced senses that reveal low-health enemies through walls. Stay aggressive and maintain your sword combos to build the attack speed meter - the more hits you land, the faster you attack. Don't pop this ability unless you're ready to fully engage, as backing off wastes its potential.
  • Weave Scarlet Shroud Into Your Combos: Scarlet Shroud is essential for survival and maintaining aggression. It blocks damage from the front and reduces your Daywalker Dash cooldown based on damage absorbed. The key timing is weaving it between attacks: attack → Scarlet Shroud → continue attacking. Use the brief CC immunity at the start of the cast to counter Luna's freeze, Mantis sleep, and Jeff's ultimate. Remember there's a 3-second minimum between activations, so plan your usage carefully.
  • Target Priority and Positioning Management: Focus on isolated enemies and those out of position rather than diving the entire enemy team. During enemy support ultimates, immediately dive the healer since your healing reduction cuts their value dramatically. When Bloodline Awakening reveals low-health enemies through walls, collapse on them quickly. Against long-range threats like Hawkeye and Hela, play around cover, save dashes for gap-closing, and use Scarlet Shroud to absorb key hits. Your goal is finding single targets and putting them in the worst circumstances to be eliminated through tactical offense rather than raw burst damage.

Blade Combos

  1. Gun opener: fire Hunter's Shotgun (Left Click), then Daywalker Dash (Shift) with the gun still out. The secondary shot hits for 50 and slows by 40% for 1.5 seconds, which gives you time to switch to the sword before the target escapes.
  2. Fast stacks: Bloodline Awakening (E), then Daywalker Dash (Shift) into the target. The four-hit sword cleave gives 4 attack speed stacks at once, so one more Ancestral Sword (Left Click) hit reaches the 5 needed for Whirlwind Slash.
  3. Parry and punish: hold Scarlet Shroud (Right Click) through heavy fire, then Daywalker Dash (Shift) with the sword. Each 200 damage blocked returns a dash charge, and the cleave stacks up to 32% healing reduction on whoever you hit.
  4. Full charge ultimate: charge Thousand-Fold Slash (Q) for 1 second to reach the full 24 m, dash through the backline for 100 damage, then fight inside the 225-per-second zone. The ultimate heals him from damage even without Bloodline Awakening.

Strengths

  • Bloodline Awakening turns 70% of his damage into healing and keeps overflow as up to 75 bonus health, so he lasts far longer in a melee fight than his 350 health suggests.
  • He cuts enemy healing twice over: the sword version of Daywalker Dash stacks up to 32% healing reduction, and Thousand-Fold Slash applies 40% for 4 seconds, which helps him finish targets their Strategists are trying to save.
  • Scarlet Shroud blocks 80% of frontal damage and makes him Unstoppable for 1 second, and every 200 damage it absorbs refunds a Daywalker Dash charge, so he can soak a burst and dash right back in.
  • Two charges of a 15 m Daywalker Dash give him both an entry and an exit, and the gun version slows by 40% for 1.5 seconds so a target cannot simply walk away.

Weaknesses

  • His sword only reaches 5 m and Bloodline Awakening locks him to it, so area denial hurts him: Peni Parker's hidden mines, slowing drones and 0.7-second snare stun punish a melee hero walking onto her webs.
  • While Bloodline Awakening is active he receives 25% less healing, so his Strategists help him less and he has to keep landing hits to stay alive.
  • Scarlet Shroud only covers damage from the front and burns 60 of its 120 points per second, so it runs dry in under 2 seconds of holding and does nothing against flankers.

Blade Team-Ups and Best Teammates

Blade has 2 team-up loadouts. Pick one before the match: it always works, and its enhanced effect turns on when the partner hero is on your team.

Blade of Khonshu

Partner: Moon Knight

Blade of Khonshu input

A new ability: Blade dashes in with a heavy sword cleave, then slashes four times, each slash throwing a 40-damage moon blade that bounces to nearby enemies at 35% less damage per jump. With Moon Knight every Whirlwind Slash adds another moon blade, so pick it against grouped teams.

Bleed for Battle

Partner: Captain America

A passive: Blade gets one Bloodline Awakening stack for every 40 damage he takes, and his stack cap rises from 10 to 12. With Captain America on the team, falling below 65% health starts Bloodline Awakening at once with 5 bonus stacks and a cap of 14.

  • Moon Knight: picking Blade of Khonshu (C) gives Blade a short dash that ends in four slashes, each sending a 40-damage moon blade that bounces between nearby enemies. With Moon Knight on the team his Whirlwind Slashes throw extra moon blades too, so use it on a group to spread the bounces.
  • Captain America: Bleed for Battle turns damage Blade takes into Bloodline Awakening stacks and, since Season 10, raises his cap to 12. With Captain America on the team dropping below 65% health starts the awakening instantly with 5 extra stacks, which rewards brawling next to Cap on the front line.
  • A dive Vanguard who goes in first: Blade has to be within 5 m to do real damage, so a tank who draws the stuns and focus fire lets him dash in with Scarlet Shroud still ready instead of spending it on the way.

Blade Counters

Blade needs to be within 5 m to use his sword, so keep your distance and punish him once both Daywalker Dash charges are gone, since each takes 10 seconds to come back. Heroes who deny space do well against him: Peni Parker's webs, mines and snare stun catch a melee hero walking in. Don't pour damage into Scarlet Shroud from the front, because every 200 it blocks gives him a dash back; hit him from the side or wait for the parry to end.
