How to Play Celestial Husk
The setup you need to know
Celestial Husk is a Domination map where both teams contest and capture the point until the score reaches 100%. Like all Domination maps, it's a best two-out-of-three format with three different sub-areas in rotation.
The map's defining features
- Symbiote pieces that stretch or expand when hit to build bridges, elevate characters, and block passages.
- Symbiotic elevators deployed automatically at match start, unlike the original Klyntar where players had to activate them manually.
- At least six unique entry paths into central combat zones, including high and low ground approaches plus longer sightlines for ranged heroes.
- Health packs densely placed, which means you can run non-healer-heavy comps if you really want to.
Playing offense (capturing the point)
Don't push through the obvious main entrance. Teams can spread out, flank, or split up into smaller fights like 2v2 or 3v3 instead of just one big team brawl. This creates a more dynamic experience and forces the defending team to respond actively rather than just camp a single entry.
Use the multiple entry paths. Send one player through a high path, two through the main route, and one through a low or side route. Defenders can't cover everything at once.
For dive players (Spider-Man, Venom, Iron Man, Star-Lord), use the high-mobility side paths to reposition quickly. These paths allow skilled players to reposition across the map with minimal interference. The map rewards fast-moving heroes with clever routes.
Use the auto-deployed elevators. Unlike the old Klyntar map where you'd forget to activate them mid-fight, these are always ready. Mid-combat, jump on one to reach high ground that defenders aren't watching.
Playing defense (after capping the point)
Don't camp one entrance. With six approach paths, sitting in one spot means attackers will bypass you. Spread your team to cover multiple angles and have your tank on the point while DPS and supports angle from elevated positions.
Use the symbiote pieces actively. Shooting them to extend bridges, block passages, or elevate teammates can reshape the map mid-fight. Block off a key flank lane right before a fight and attackers funnel into where you want them.
Watch for divers. Venom and Spider-Man players will use the map's dark spots and side paths to dive your backline. Have one support with self-peel (Loki, Mantis with sleep, Luna with freeze) and don't position your healers in isolated corners.
General things that matter
Stagger management is everything on Domination. The team that respawns together and walks in together wins the cap. If half your team dies, regroup at spawn rather than feeding one by one.
The high ground positions and longer sightlines mean range-flexible DPS works better here than on the original Klyntar. Celestial Husk extends existing sightlines instead of opening completely new routes, maintaining balance while giving ranged heroes more value than they had on Symbiotic Surface.
Cluster awareness for ultimates matters more on Domination maps than anywhere else. Phoenix, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Punisher, Storm, and Jeff all have ults that punish enemies standing on the point. If you have one of these ults ready, time it for when defenders are forced to cluster on the cap.
The dense health pack placement is huge. Use them between fights to reset HP without committing your support's resources. Track where the packs are around the point so you can disengage to grab one and rejoin.
Bonus tip: there's a Celestial Pathway achievement for gaining control of the Celestial Codex on this map. You earn it just by winning a match on Celestial Husk in Quick Match or Competitive, so it's basically free if you queue normally.
Last thing: the map's design philosophy of multiple entry paths and high ground rewards teams that communicate. Calling out flank routes, coordinating attacks from multiple angles, and rotating between high and low positions wins fights here way more than raw mechanical skill. If you're queuing solo, ping aggressively when you spot enemies on side paths so your team can adjust.
